Been busy lately with the OGRE Sponsored Counter Sheets…
Last year I got the Nihon Counter Sheet from Roy Kubicek. Here they are, along with a CP and OGRE Mk. III:
Last month the Uncommon OGREs and ACD Distribution sheets arrived from Warehouse 23. I’ve split the Nihon, Vatican, and Nassau OGREs into their respective factions. Here’s the ACD forces (with the Anarchist Relief Front making an appearance at top right):
And yesterday Barbarians at the Gate arrived! Here’s the Sons of Nassau and Vatican forces:
This one is packaged a complete rules supplement with new units and scenarios. Highly recommended!
(You can also see a few of the Strategic & Tactical Objectives in the background of the Nihon pic. Not depicted are the BGG units [which include the BGGzilla and the OGRE Ninja] and additional Uncommon OGREs.)
(Awesome Mk. III-B blueprint swiped from the Martian Metals blog.)
I was trolling through the old OGRE Mailing List Archives today and I came across some thoughts on the Combine OGRE Mk. III-B that I liked…
Well, I finally got my copy of the OGRE Designer’s Edition yesterday – and it is a thing of beauty! With this in my hands, I’m stoked to get back into the Last War.
There are already several reviews and unboxing videos online, so instead of repeating their sentiments I’ll spend my time punching out chits and assembling OGREs…
Well, the OGRE Kickstarter missed its original target dates (by a mile), but I’d rather see SJ Games do a good job instead of a quick job.
Guess I’ll just lie low until it’s released…
Well, the OGRE Designer’s Edition is now the most successful boardgame project on Kickstarter, with a final total of $923,680 pledged.
I put in for a copy (even with the high shipping costs to Canada), and am pretty stoked.
Now there’s just the painful half-year wait until it actually ships!
OGRE and its sequel, GEV, are tactical ground combat games set in the not-so-distant future. Starting in 2000, SJ Games relaunched the OGRE line, including Shockwave, the OGRE Reinforcement Pack, and OGRE Battlefields. This was the version that got me into wargaming, and over time I wrote some additional material for the game. With the successful Designer’s Edition Kickstarter, I’m obsessed with the game again and have been putting my material back on the web.
You can take a look at the official SJ Games OGRE site and the Designer’s Edition page. There is also some activity on the OGRE/GEV forums. It is indeed a good time for late 21st century tactical nuclear tank warfare…
